A plethora of restaurants opening up in the city, yet when it comes to choosing one on a special day or when you are in the mood to have some fun with quality food, hardly any place comes to mind, except the same, old, regular ones, high on Chinese food and low on budget. For an exquisite international taste, most people would ask you to opt for hotels which are way out of your budget. Confusion over GST charges also adds to your woes. It ultimately comes to this -

International cuisine - Available at selected spots in Bhubaneswar

Budget - Way over affordable limits

International Winter Food Ingredients

There is but one place where you can have Italian, French, Thai and other European dishes at a reasonable price and have fun too. I have been to the place many times in the past one year and yesterday, I persuaded my partner to go along too, even when he was skeptical about the rates. I must credit a post on the Food Findo group in Facebook for bringing my attention back to the place I had checked out in its initial days with the same friend, but didn't do so later on, even when I was familiar with the Chef and friends with him on Facebook.

I urge you to visit Michael's Kitchen, opposite Sainik School, Bhubaneswar.

We began our food journey at Michael's Kitchen with salad. Most people do not understand why I love salads so much and want to taste it wherever I go. My partner is always amazed with my penchant for salad. I opted for the Classic Greek Salad. It comprises of capsicum, tomatoes, cabbage, onions garnered with vinegar and pepper which gives it a distinct flavour. I wouldn't recommend it for people who don't like such vegetables. But, it is high on nutrients. Michael's Kitchen offers the best salads in town.

The only lacuna might be the onions which, when you eat, fill your mouth with that typical oniony smell. I had to keep it away for my second helping.

Next came in what most people don't know about and hence, rarely order. But, it is amazing to your taste buds. We took another plate of it since we were so blown over by it melting in our mouths and leaving us so satisfied. On the Lighter Side Crepe can totally give you complete Foodgasms. We had one yesterday forcing us to order another.

Laced with chicken breast inside and mayonnaise, the wrapping worked wonders for us. One crepe is enough for two people to share. It is soft, distinct in each of its ingredient taste and lingers in your mouth even after you are done chewing. It is neither salty, nor spicy, so you really don't have to bother about your mouth or stomach burning. The veggies with mustard sauce are amazing too.

After we took a second one, we were full before we could finish it off. Two crepes can be heavy on your stomach. But, certainly, one On the Lighter Side Crepe can be a far healthier alternative to those noodles or fried corn we stuff our mouths with, usually. The French Fries provide you a perfect add-on for some salty craving in the middle of eating the crepe.

Me and my partner are huge fans of mojitos. My partner has recently learnt how to make one. No wonder, we do look forward to classic mojitos to complete our ensemble. We opted for Thai Punch Virgin Mojito.

Virgin Mojito - Thai Punch

It reminded me of Margarita with a straw! Chilled and filled with the aromatic smell of lime, leaves and ice, it added as a perfect close to the food we had. Quenching your thirst becomes compulsory when you have Crepe.

Michael's Kitchen is known for its sumptuous desserts too. I took my family on my mom's birthday this year and we treated ourselves to Chocolate Gulab Jamun. We couldn't get enough at all. Posting that pic led to a lot of criticism online since I made dieters quite jealous and weak in their knees.

Can't help it!

Chocolate Gulab Jamun

Coming to the price - Rs 960 (no GST).

On the Lighter Side Crepe - Rs 230 each

Classic Greek Salad - Rs 180

Virgin Mojito - Rs 160

It has a family-ideal ambience and the staff seems to have upgraded their services. Visit it before GST makes prices soar.
