For the Food that's Worth the Money

I had been lamenting in my first post here about this very happening place I didn't get to go to and now, I did. Not once, but twice, in the same week! I had made reservations at this place twice some two months ago. But, nothing materialized. And when it did, it was in a sumptuous amount. This place can be credited with popularizing the "reservation culture" in Bhubaneswar. Though I should advise you, you'd need two foodies, empty stomach and quite fat pockets to enjoy the unlimited food here.

When I and my partner decided to try out this place the moment we crossed Sainik School, we knew it'd be an impulsive decision. It was! We had no idea about the concept though we had heard about it from countless people and we were not ashamed to admit. In fact, we were extremely confused! But, once we began, we couldn't stop and before we knew it, we had absolutely no place in our stomach to gorge on the Biryanis they had that week. The waiter had to give us a plate with a little of all the main course venue. And then, we jumped onto the dessert and extended dessert. You got little to complain when you are at Barbeque Nation on a weekday!

Fish is one of their best when it comes to the menu in starters. Not to mention the pineapple and prawns. I was fed up with the chicken leg piece since most food brands over - stuff their menus with that. I must say, even my partner, who avoids fish anywhere apart from the comfort of his own home (and rightly so), gorged on the fish and asked for it over and over again! The ice tea which I chose went well with it.

The most important thing to remember is to not criticize the food much when the waiter or the manager asks about it, especially on weekdays. They will get another one for you in order to make up for that one lacuna you found. I had to gulp down one more chicken leg piece that way!

My partner was all praises for the khatirdaari we were receiving and said, "Review acha milne wala hai!" (You are gonna give raving reviews, right?). Well, they have to - they charge Rs 750-1000 per head for all of the above.

Though me and my partner couldn't taste much because of overfilled stomach that day, we did go for dessert. He had his favorite brownies while I relished my Kulfis! We had around 4 varieties of kulfis for ourselves to taste and we didn't complain! It was amazing!

I got a chance to make up for the Biryanis that very weekend. The firm I work part-time with organised a team lunch there and I canceled lunch with my friends for it! Don't judge me, I wanted to have sumptuous Biryani and I was not required to pay, so I took it!

The different varieties for Biryani were something you wouldn't find in Bhubaneswar. I learnt about a particular type of Biryani called the Zaarda Biryani which is found only in Kashmir. The heavenly taste is unparalleled and if you are someone who believes in the kinda hatred we are witnessing right now, you are missing big time on things like this only people in that part of the world know to cook!

Told ya, food unites, always!

I wanted my dad to go there, but it will take a while to convince him to pay for one person what we pay for five people in other eateries. Nevertheless, the ambience and experience is to die for and you would run there to have a taste of that, whenever you can, that's for sure.

I and my food partner are planning for our anniversary special there. Hope our pockets are full by then!
